An Unusual Squirrel

 

Wait a minute. Does that squirrel have a raccoon tail?

Yes! This unusual squirrel started showing up in my yard the other day. I've never seen one like it. It arrives with a few standard eastern gray squirrels.

Here's one with a more standard tail for comparison.

In addition to the tail, the new squirrel has noticeable orange patches on the tops of its feet. Click to enlarge.

It's a very unusual and good looking squirrel and a welcome addition to the neighborhood.
