Laughing gulls, Larus atricilla, started flying south in August and they will be gone from the northeast by the end of September. See you all next summer!
I recently visited Manhattan and was surprised at the number of species of wildlife I noticed while walking. One night, I crossed paths with a rat who was scurrying down the street, keeping close to the curb. I thought that if there is not already a Field Guide to Manhattan Wildlife, someone surely should write one. I am delighted to find your blog.
Hi Barb, Thank you. I am grateful for glimpses of city wildlife too. The book I wrote includes wildlife common in most cities and suburbs across the United States. Best regards, Julie
